Summary

            In Michael Kleine’s article ‘What is it we do when we write articles like this one—and how can we get students to join us’ Kleine attempts to discover the best way to obtain quality research information for writing any paper.  He argues that there needs to be a more organized way to research other then just copying out of a book.

1.     I feel what Kleine is talking about relates to my own personal experiences because I have been in the place of the high school students he mentions in the library just copying right out of a book. That’s how everyone in my high school used to do it for the most part. As Kleine was describing the library seen I realized that that’s how I used to do all my research, but as he went into more depth about how academics do it I realized I never did it the way he explains it.

3.     The professionals Kleine interviews state that sources don’t always play the biggest role in research, but more of how you place your research in a paper. In my past research efforts I always thought the more sources the better off you were, but that’s not always the case it’s more quality over quantity. The differences are that the more sources you have is not always good if all the sources you have are complete trash and unreliable.

4.     I would change my research process by a lot if I followed what kleine tells     his students to do because in the past my research has been everywhere and unorganized and just a mess. After reading what kleine says to do it makes a lot more sence to organize your research in a the hunter and gatherer. Meaning to gather useful info and then hunt for what you will use in a paper.

My thoughts

            Overall I found todays readings to be very insightful due to my horrible research techniques. I feel like this section will be very helpful in helping with my research orginazitaion issues. After reading this section it made me realize that I need to make quite a lot of changes in my research habits to become a pro at researching and writing better paper. Again this section will be very benifical in the process of learning how to write better papers.
