Berkenkotter and Murray articles

Summary
In Murray and Berkenkotter articles ‘ Decisions and revisions: The planning strategies of a publishing writer’ and ‘Response of a laboratory rat-or, being protocoled’ they attempt to study and respond to different strategies used by professional writers. Their overall point is to find the best ways professional writers use their methods to complete good papers.

Synthesize
Murray and Berkenkotter articles are very similar to almost every reading that we’ve read in class. There all connected by they are always giving us new methods to try out when writing a paper for class. All the articles give the steps on what you have to do and just piece it all together.

QDJ
1. My first impressions on Murray’s writing was that no matter what he did it was always well organized and well formatted which are two huge pluses right off the bat. I also liked how he listed everything in numbered list it made it a lot easier to read and follow. I feel like it doesn’t compare to my writing process at all because Im personally bad at writing so I feel like I m very unorganized and almost all over the place.

3. This study effected Berkenkotter understanding on writing in the planning and revision process by bringing up new ideas about them. When revising your paper have someone who is educated well look it over not just your mom or friends because they will most likely say its mostly good and not make any changes to it. Whereas if you get someone scholarly to look over it they will almost have to make changes to it.

AEI
1. When I write I tend to just attack it and get after it, basically to just get it done. Which I feel like most college students do. I also just pass off the paper to a couple classmates usually to make my peer editing when I really should be giving it to a professional to look over and make the proper corrections. I would have to say my writing experience is low to most everyone else I just cant get the process down I always just over think everything.

Meta Moment
One thing I personally learned was to take your time on the planning and editing stages of your paper because these are more then likely the most important parts to a successful paper, and they can be the most beneficial if you were to use them properly.

My thoughts
After reading the two articles I was able to pull away a few good things to keep in mind when writing a paper. One thing was to always take your time when planning out what the paper is going to be or how its going to look like because having a plan always helps before just diving right into the thick of it. Overall it was a long read but in the end worth it from all that you could potentially gain from it.
