Quotes

“Sponsors seemed a fitting term for the figures who turned up most typically in peoples memories of literacy learning: older relatives, teachers….., influential authors”.

“Patterns of sponsorship became an illuminating site through which to track the different cultural attitudes people developed toward writing vs. reading…”

“The concept of sponsors helps to explain, then, a range of human relationships and ideological pressures that turn up at the senses of literacy learning-from benign sharing between adults and youth.”

“When I got to school, then there was a lot of reading. I often felt bad. If I had read more as a high school student it wouldn’t have been so rough.”

Nicholas Kollert

Importance of quote

These are the people who you learned to read from they could’ve inspired you or read to you every night before bed, there the first people to have an influence on how you write and read.

This quote is stating that the way you wright and how you interrupt reading could just depend on where you grew up in the world. Different places around the world teach writing and reading differently.

This quote is stating that the views adults share with children about writing and reading could influence how those children write in the future.

I personally picked this quote because I can relate to this because I sometimes feel the same way that if I took high school a little more seriously then college could’ve been a tad easier.
